Lawrence Vincent Gallagher, 72, passed away at his home in Camarillo on Aug. 19, 2006, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Jersey City, N.J., the fourth of 10 children. He moved to Camarillo with his wife and six children in 1970 as operations manager with W.T. Grant Co. in Camarillo and spent the last 25 years before his retirement in the sporting goods industry.
He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Parish, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 5272 and enjoyed his many years as master of ceremonies at the group's annual St. Patrick's Day event. Throughout the years, Larry enjoyed coaching numerous sports involving his children. During his leisure time, he pitched fast-pitch softball and entertained many with his spoon playing and storytelling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia; mother-in-law, Estelle Otherski; children, Betty Ann Guerrero (husband Victor), Larry Gallagher Jr. (wife Tammy), Janice Manzer (husband Warren), Brian Gallagher (wife Robin), Peter Gallagher (wife Peggy) and Doreen Shumway (husband Michael); four brothers; three sisters; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Gallagher; father-in-law, Peter Otherski; and two grandchildren, Daniel and Ryan Gallagher.
Donations may be made in Larry's memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

While we can not be with you in person we are certainly with you in spirit. Uncle Lar lived a beautiful life full of love and happiness creating many special memories with his family near and far...I can't help but smile when I think of him at the family parties, doing "who me?" with my mom and playing the spoons...I hope you find peace and comfort in each other and hold on to the happy times as Uncle Lar joins Pop, Aunt Marie, Uncle Jim and Peter and the other "Gallagher Guardian Angels" above. You are in our hearts and prayers as you say goodbye to such a wonderful man.

We were so sorry to hear about Larry. He was so devoted to his family and you were all so lucky to have had him in your life. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met and will be missed by many. He will still be watching over his family as he always has, it will just be from a better place. We will keep your family in our prayers. We love you all!
