Deborah Canby Obituary

Deborah "Debi" Canby A daughter, mother, grandmother and friend who will be truly missed each and every day! Deborah "Debi" Fry / Canby passed away on September 22nd, 2012 at the age of 59 in her home in Visalia, Ca. She was born to Dolores Faye Gomes & Late Viron Francis Fry on January 26th, 1953 in Woodlake, Ca. Ms. Canby attended elementary school in Tulare. As a child, Debi had a tender heart and developed a deep love for animals. She convinced her father through tearful protest not to take the livestock to market because she could not eat her 4-legged friends. Her way of life as a child taught her to love all of God's creations including reptiles, insects, and animals. She attended Tulare Western High School. Her yearbooks indicate she was voted most popular student by the student body all four years and homecoming queen her senior year in 1971, as well as, appointed a girl state representative. As a cheerleader, Debi's bright and enthusiastic smile could always be seen cheering on her team. After graduating from Tulare Western, she attended College of the Sequoias majoring in an accounting curriculum. She also completed a program at COS and received her massage therapy license. Many will remember her charismatic personality in her job for she could sell anything to anyone at any store in the Demo world. Debi raised her family in Visalia for almost 30 years. She was a soccer mom supporting her children in whatever sport or endeavor they chose from soccer, karate, and snow skiing to skateboarding. She also loved to entertain family and friends, enjoying their company and laughter. Debi always had open arms and a listening ear for all walks of life. She loved spending summer vacations at the beach and also enjoyed hikes in the mountains. Debi was a true nature spirit with the biggest green thumb. She was known for her gardens and her wonderful cooking, as she experimented with delicious recipes for family and friends. Debi was a talented artist her legacy includes a gallery of sculptures, paintings, and photography that will be cherished for years to come. Fun is the best way to describe Debi's mischievous personality. She liked to keep you on your toes! Most of her family and friends, especially her beloved stepfather, Late Manual "Peacock" Gomes were often subject to her pranks. She is survived by her mother Dolores Faye Gomes, two children Brad Canby and wife Charel, Erin Thiam and husband Lamine, two grandchildren, Beaujul and Ayessa Thiam, The Royal Family- her two dogs and cat, she was their servant. A mother holds her children's hands for a little while, but their hearts forever! Private family services for Debi will be held in February. Arrangements are by Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service. I know I don't remember you, for I was a baby. Now I'm in 7th grade and understand how much you meant to my family. We have photos of you all around the house, and I just wish I could have been with you longer. I was 4 when you passed and I remember not knowing what was happening at the funeral. We all miss you very much.

My first love. You entered my heart when we were just 11 years old and although we never saw each other again after age 13 I want you to know that huge portion of my heart where you reside has just never been available to anyone else. I'll always remember you as that beautiful, smart, kind but honest 13 year old sweetheart in the yellow dress dancing in the sunshine. I only just discovered this so now im officially in mourning. Goodbye again sweet Deborah. RIP

"Hey You!"

Though You're not where I'd expect to find you, at Home or at the local stores. I will always keep on praying to see You, Deborah Mi Amor.

Your smile a signed greeting card for all who came near. An honest, loving treasure We shall always hold so dear.

There was the big Welcome mat that brushed the dirt off My shoes, then the gentle Hugs that made Me glad I knew You.

We'd laugh, We'd dance, We'd sit and We'd sigh. There were those few times We'd just hold each other and cry.

We'd share Our best wishes and Our worst woes. Then You would have Me rub Your tired pretty, cute, little toes.

I'll miss you with all My heart, Mind, Body and Soul. You've gone to Heaven My Dearest Debi to Hug Jesus, I know.

xoxojj
