David Carter Obituary

David Carter

West Seneca, NY - David Jeffers Carter was born to Roscoe Carter and Anne DeGoosh on February 17, 1948. David arrived 11 months after his brother Carl. Needless to say, David and Carl developed a strong brotherly bond that would never be broken. Carl and David went through grade school and high school together. They shared a love of sports and country living. Both enjoyed helping their Dad out on his milk deliveries when they were not in school. In junior high, David took his love of country living one step further and started working weekends and during the summer months on Shine and Priscilla King's farm located on the River Road in Lyme. The King family treated David like one of their own and taught him all they could about dairy farming. David enjoyed his high school years excelling in his studies, soccer, and basketball. He graduated from Thetford Academy in 1966. David worked on the King farm for a year before joining the Army for three years of duty; one of those being in Vietnam where he served as a operating technician. David met his ex-wife Judith Campbell while serving in Vietnam. They lived briefly in NH after being married, and moved to West Seneca, NY, Judith's hometown where they raised their family. David was a perfusionist (operating the heart/lung machine) for 40 years at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. David loved his work and loved to continue to learn all he could, to assure he would always provide the best care for his patients. David's love for his family cannot be matched. He lived to provide John, Wendy and Michelle with a safe and loving home. He was an amazing gardener, grill master, cook and pie maker. David learned to make pies at a young age by watching his Mom. He loved to share his baked goods with family and friends. Fun for David was putting together a big meal for his family to enjoy. David and his daughter Michelle shared a love of fishing. They created wonderful memories during trips to the Niagara River during the salmon and trout runs.

Sadly David's life here on earth ended December 1, 2023. David died peacefully with his beloved daughter Michelle at his side.

David is predeceased by his father-Roscoe Carter, mother- Anne DeGoosh, and his son- John Michael Carter. David is survived by his daughter Michelle (John) Ginter; daughter -Wendy (John) Skonecki; brother- Carl (Vera) Carter; sister- Roxanne (Jason) LaRocque; sister-Karen (Bob) Mills; six grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. A celebration of David's life will be held in the near future.

This is a wonderful remembrance of David, starting with his mom and dad, friendship and childhood with Carl, local connection to school, community and land stewardship, service to country, dedication to medicine and care of patients, nurturing his own nuclear family and lasting time with his special fishing buddy. I am thinking of you all so much as you live your love in memory.
