John Jamieson Obituary

John W. Jamieson

Williamstown, VT - John W. Jamieson, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home.

Born on May 18, 1940, in Sunapee, NH, he was the son of Russell and Gretchen (Campbell) Jamieson. He attended Rice Mills Elementary School in Thetford and attended Thetford Academy. In 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until he was honorably discharged.

On August 10, 1962, he married Shirley Nelson of West Fairlee and made their home in Williamstown.

John was a blacksmith at Buttura's and Sons Granite shed and built a blacksmith shop at home where he continued to make tools for the stone cutters. John also picked up grout at many local granite sheds. He worked for Steve Nichols Excavating in East Brookfield. In the 70's he owned Jamieson Excavating and built a twelve lot subdivision on Jamieson Road where he lived. In 1982, he sold his business and worked for LH Construction of Williamstown until he retired in 2002. He and Shirley travelled for the next 18 years.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Jamieson of Williamstown, his son Randy Jamieson of Bradford and his daughter Rhonda Willette and her husband, Andy of Marshfield, his three grandchildren that he cherished Jared Carrier and his wife, Rachel of Williamstown, Jordan Carrier of Danville and Savannah Jamieson Rodriguez and her husband, Aaron and their four children Cole, Ariel, Ryder, and Thatcher all of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; his sister Beth Tilden and her husband, Dexter of Post Mills, VT and a very special nephew Johnnie Cray of West Fairlee.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The service to honor his life will be held at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Williamstown EMS Fast Squad, PO Box 646, Williamstown, VT 05679.
