Lindon Endsley Obituary

Lindon Carl Endsley, beloved son, husband, father, and friend, finished his pilgrimage on earth, where he walked "by faith", and early Monday morning, August 19, 2013, left his residence to began his walk "by sight" in his eternal home prepared for him by his Lord. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, at Highland Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Mark Wible, the Rev. John Durham, and the Rev. Kyle Dunn ministering. A committal service was held Wednesday, August 21, at the family Starr Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas.

Lindon (Lindy) was born March 12, 1945, to Lancaster and Jolene Endsley in Granbury, Texas, and moved to Waco to begin the first grade. He graduated from Waco High School in 1963, received a football scholarship to Texas A&M (he was the largest player in the Southwest Conference), but left A&M in 1965 to finish his football career at North Texas, where he received his B.A. in business management. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Joy Ann Starr. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs where he played for two years (1968-1969). He was an Industrial Manager for United Parcel Service from 1969-1975 and was part of the planning/implementation team out of Atlanta, Ga., that established the expansion of UPS in nine mid-western states, including Texas. He moved back home to Waco in 1975 and was the UPS Center Manager until 1977, when he joined T-N-T Sales, working with Harry and David Kidwell representing Tomy Toys and other lines for eight years. In 1987, he started his own rep firm, ENDSCO Sales. He delighted in his work relationships and made friends all over the world.

Lindy was a member of the church he dearly loved, Highland Baptist Church, where he served as deacon since 1978, as well as SS teacher for children and later youth, and AWANA Director for boys. He spent time on mission trips to Belarus, Mexico, and Morocco.

Family members who preceded Lindy in death are his father, Lancaster Endsley, and sister, Susan Dotson.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Endsley; their sons, Sean Endsley and his wife, Amanda; and children, Katie, Jacob, and Braden Endsley of Waco; Micah Endsley and his wife, Kelly, and their sons, Carson and Caleb Endsley of Mukwonago, Wis. He is also survived by his mother, Jolene Endsley; sister, Sally Call, of Round Rock; and nephew, Wes Thompson of Granbury.

The family has a deep heartfelt appreciation to Providence Homecare Hospice and two special ladies, Cindy and Gay, as well as Dr. Jahrmarkt, who guided the family to lovingly take care of Lindy in his home his last couple of months.

Lindy will be remembered as a "gentle giant" who thought of others before himself, especially his family. This humble man knew he was a blessed man as his favorite verse from God's Holy Word is Jeremiah 17:7-8, "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust IS the Lord." Lindy trusted his Lord and believed "to live is Christ, to die is gain."

Memorials may be made to Precept Ministries - P.O. Box 182218, Chattanooga, TN 37422 or Highland Baptist Church - 3014 Maple Ave., Waco, Texas 76707.
