Nettie Marie Green, 92, of Woodway, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, in her home, with her husband holding her hand. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with Brother Roy Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park Cemetery. A Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 6, at Grace Gardens.
Nettie Kurtz Green was born September 24, 1930, in Golinda, Texas, to Paul and Lenae Kurtz. She was a graduate of Chilton High School, following graduation, she went to work at Ridgewood Country Club as the office manager. In 1948, she had a chance encounter with George Green while sorting tomatoes. He soon came to call on her and they began a four-year courtship. The couple married in 1953 and were happily married for 70 years. They raised two children. Nettie and George opened Green's automatic transmission in 1963, a family legacy that is still serving Waco today. They retired in 1996 and enjoyed traveling to the coast often, spending time of their boat and fishing. They also enjoyed time spent in their RV, going as far as Alaska. Having grown up on a farm, Nettie always enjoyed outside work, she kept a beautiful garden and yard. She loved to fish on lakes and gulf coast. Mimi, as she was lovingly known, was best known for the love she had for her family. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her children and grandchildren. Her home was a happy one, where many found comfort. She was a member of First Baptist Church Woodway.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; and her cherished daughter, Kay Pigg.
Left to continue her legacy are her beloved husband, George; son, Keith Green and wife, Nancy; son-in-law, Billy Pigg; grandchildren, T.J. Green and wife, Laci, Brooke Jennings and husband, Jarrod, Kevin Green and wife, Lauren; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emma, Jace, Jett, Brinley, and Lainey; and numerous friends.
The family is grateful for the tremendous loving care their received from Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Community Hospice.

Mr. Green, I met you earlier this week at Walmart, as you checked out through self check.
What a privilege it was to me to hear about your beloved Nettie and the 70+ years you two spent together. What a wonderful love story.

Laura and I are very sorry for your families loss. Nettie was a wonderful person that really cared for her family and friends. One of our fondest memories is the trip we took to the coast with your family years ago. It meant a lot to us to be able to spend time with you guys on vacation.
