Odis Nichols Obituary
July 27, 1944 - April 29, 2025
Odis Wesley Nichols, Jr of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Waco, Texas passed away on April 29, 2025. Odis was born on 7/27/44 to Odis Wesley Nichols, Sr and Novice Lavalliene "Jo" Nichols. Odis served as Chief Operating Officer of Providence Hospital before retiring in 2011. He was proceeded in death by his father "Wes" Nichols and his mother, "Jo" Nichols, both from Gatesville, Texas, where Odis was raised prior to attending the University of Texas where he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He later received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Baylor University. Odis is survived by his wife Donna Traylor Nichols of Boerne, Texas, daughter, Leah Joy Schifferns of Whitney, Texas, stepson Zach Stowers and wife Ashlie of San Antonio, Texas, stepdaughter Laci Buck and husband Donovan of Pflugerville, Texas and grandchildren Adaline, Stellee and Idalia Schifferns, Brooke and Evan Stowers and Dylan and Gavin Buck. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

My prayers are with the family. I worked with Odis at Providence many years ago. I have a great memory about him. I knew he didn't like rice, and for his birthday I made him a pie. When he cut it, the filling was all rice. It was so funny. I then presented him with a real coconut cream pie. He took jokes well and was always very kind.

Donna , so sorry to hear of Butch's passing. I know he did not like to be called anything but Odis but his cousins always called him Butch. He will be missed. Prayers for you and the family.

Sorry to hear about Odis. We attended Gatesville Public Schools from the 1st through 12th grades and graduated in the class of 1962. Lots of memories and good times were shared. RIP Odis.
