Ruth Johnson Obituary

Ruth Ann Johnson, 58, passed away at her home June 9, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Robinson Church of Christ, 428 Chado Lane, Robinson, with Ramiro A. Pena officiating. Burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Ruth believed in her salvation in Jesus. We celebrate her life and her graduation to heaven. Ruth Johnson was a lady like Laura Bush, a warrior like Margaret Thatcher, honorable in defeat like Chief Joseph and Robert E. Lee, the greatest loving mother and wife. As John Wayne said, "Even though she was afraid, she saddled up anyway." She had talented hands of an artist like Michael Angelo and was humble like Jesus. When Ruth was your friend, you had an absolute loyal friend no matter the social status. She could disarmingly see who you were. Most who met Ruth were honored to meet her and were deeply moved by her spirit whether it be presidents, governors, powerful businessmen, a common man or a child. She was often loved and respected by those unloved and unrespected because she was real. Ruth was really Ruth as God made her and she was not to be re-made by the world. As an eagle she flew above the naysayers in life. A unique lady who was genuine and a real down to earth person that put on no airs and had uncommon common sense. Ruth partook of Jesus' living water as in John 4:10-15. Her awesome bright beautiful eyes could say more than a thousand words. In her eyes a joyful heart always wore a smile even when she was in dreadful pain and she did not complain. Her beautiful spirit touched deeply into many lives that needed a rock. She made a difference and was not ordinary in any way. She had a life worth remembering. When asked about her education, she once replied she had graduated the 11th grade. Ruth was president of Johnson Roofing, the premier Christian Roofing Company in Texas and the 40th largest in the United States. It was built on integrity and quality and she was looked upon as one of the leading women in the roofing industry. She could see past minor problems with her intuition and see the real truth. She was brutally honest but compassionate - don't ask if you don't want to know. She was true blue as in the Book of Ruth and a blessed angel and her word was her bond. Ruth often said she would rather see a sermon than hear one. She was tough and stood her ground when on a mission and became stronger as the odds and adversary were greater. She was a leaping lightning that blasted obstacles from her path and was true grit. She was a one on one person and extremely private and would rather be on the sideline than in the spotlight. She deeply loved her family and friends, her dogs and especially a little three-legged, spoiled rotten, long-haired Chihuahua named Teetie Pie Johnson who was greatly loved by Bill and Ruth as their little boy. After 12 years of struggle and intense pain, she would say please don't smoke and ruin your life. Dr. Peterson at Scott & White said she was the unluckiest lucky person he ever knew because she cheated death so often. She was sweet as sugar and tough as nails. Ruth and Bill lived on Johnson Ranch in Robinson with Dutch Belted and Longhorn cattle, Appaloosa horses and a little, fat donkey named Clementine who was her favorite. During the last two years, Krista Covey and Nancy Johnson were loyal, constant caring helpmates during a lung transplant, cancer, much pain and sickness. Ruth is survived by husband, Bill Johnson; three daughters, Nancy Johnson, Sherri Lobban and husband, Chris, and Shawn Brown and husband, Kelly; five grandchildren, Krista Covey (favorite), Brittani Johnson, Kody, Shanna and Jacob Brown; two brothers, Mark Dixon and James Duvall; Uncle Quint; mother-in-law, Margaret Johnson; and a host of friends and family. Pallbearers are Mark Dixon, Charles Anderson, Randell Kyle, Jerry Allen, Chris Lobban and Burl Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Kelly Brown, Kody Brown, Jacob Brown, James Duvall, Quint Dixon, Rose Smith, Nelda Eustice and Barbara Duhon. Services will be informal and open as a memorial, friends may speak of their joys and friendship with Ruth. Online Family Register Book at www.pecangrovefuneral.com. To the Johnsons,
May God be with you in this time of need. We didin't know Mrs. Johnson but from the picture she seems to have been a very kind woman, which I'm sure she was. The good Lord needed an angel so He took her home to be with Him. We must now worry about ourselves that are left behind here on this earth, for she is no longer suffering, but rejoicing with the many riches God has instored for His child-Mrs. Johnson.May God give you the strength to move on in life through this difficult time. We will keep you in our prayers. God Bless.

Nancy Johnson and I went to RHS together and I always found her to be a very lovely person. Often it is the living legacies that are the greatest monuments to a life. And I count that to be a sermon Ruth Ann could see. My deepest sympathies, Keith Kubal

To the entire Johnson family and everyone extended:

I am moved by the expression of life and love that is still left in your hearts. Unfortunately, I did not know Ruth Ann personally and only some of you briefly... but it seems that the blessings were ubundant whenever Ruth was around and are still there today for she apparently touched so very many lives and left lasting memories with many. Those memories will walk with you through today's tears and tommorow's laughter. I have this theory... God has "Managerial Meetings"... and all the best are required to attend. I know she's in good hands as are all of you. Although it's hard to think of her daily absence it's reassuring to know of her eternal presence and for that I'm thankful. Take care and God Bless...

Bill Johnson and family, my family is so sorry for your loss. I only met Ruth a few times at Bowden Street Church of Christ, but I felt like I knew her very well because my dad(Garland Corley) loved Ruth to death and always spoke very highly of her. Three years ago at my uncle's funeral (R.L. Ingersol), both Ruth and my dad were wearing portable oxygen tanks, after the funeral Ruth went up to my dad and was teasing him about his O2 tank making noise during the funeral. I thought she was a very funny lady. This world will not be the same without Ruth Johnson and Garland Corley to make us laugh.
