Mrs. Aimone was my very first teacher, at Henson Valley back in '71. I had been looking at pictures, and one was a class picture from back then which led to me doing a search. I am very sorry for your loss. She was an incredible influence on me and will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish I had a chance to see her later in life to thank her.

I had the pleasure of teaching across the hall from Alis her last year at the Woods. What a wonderful treat! Alis always had a ready smile...even if it was on the verge of a grimace! A shared laugh always made the days more fun with the 1st and 2nd graders. When Alis announced her retirement, it was so clear how well loved she was as Woods compiled a memory book for her. The gathering was fun and really brought out the best of the Woods community. I was glad I had chosen the Woods! We realized early on that we also shared a love of MA...she would talk about her time in Plymouth...I had spent a lot of time in Marshfield growing up. I extend my heartfelt condolences. I am so glad Alis and I crossed paths!

Alis, dear warm, gentle, loving friend, who for so many years took me right into her family and home along with so many others. I remember forever moments there around that table, surrounded by the decorative additions for whatever holiday -- wonderful food, wonderful family. I remember forever the boxwoods JoanieJeanniAli. I remember trying to keep up with you on the walk up that hill and always that dear smile. More than 25 years in our lives, where I was so so lucky to have known you and had your calm and strength and giving nature to inspire me...I hold these memories fast and will never forget. I see your dear John and your Jack, Mara and Paul and those gorgeous brave strong grandchildren of yours continue you in caring for others even in this terrible time for them. I think you know how amazing they are and that they would do that. How I will miss you, as I keep every memory of you forever.

I always called Mara's Mom Mrs Aimone, but that doesn't really convey the warmth, respect and admiration I have had since Mara and I were about 15. Mrs Aimone was in a very concious way my hero. I loved everything about the Aimone house. I wanted to grow up to run a house just like Mrs Aimone. Each object was lovingly placed and cared for and took on meaning by Mrs Aimone's loving attention. I used to gaze into the kitchen cabinets admiring the gadgets that I'd never seen before: Mrs Aimone would patiently explain that this was a lemon squeezer and that it was used for tea... I thought it was all so cool. I loved the wooden chairs with the cut out, the black cat clock in the kitchen, twisting newspapers into knots for the fireplace(that might have been Mr Aimone's idea) and of course the Irish Spring photos of Mara and Jack in the entry. Mara's porch and downstairs fireplace were the meeting places of choice because Mara's parents had just the right mixture of care and concern without being smothering. Mrs Aimone listened to my concerns even as I grew into adulthood with children of my own. She gave such good advice -- I will really miss her smile and her gentle voice. I know that Mara and Jack and Mr Aimone will miss her so much. Thank you Mara and Jack for sharing your wonderful Mom with me-- knowing her I hope has made me a much kinder and more loving person.
With much love, Kathy

As your time here is finished. You are not forgotten. You have left your imprint as a sister, wife, mother and grandmother. There is still in all of us a living memory of your life Thanks for being you and having shared some of your life with me. It was a welcome and interesting relationship.
