Baha H. Al-Shibib

AL-SHIBIB Ambassador BAHA H. AL-SHIBIB (Age 71) One of Iraq's distinguished diplomatic and national figures, retired Ambassador Baha Hussain Al-Shibib, passed away after a lifetime spent serving his country. He passed on March 7, 2009 in Raleigh, North Carolina surrounded by family. Ambassador Al-Shibib was born on December 7, 1937 and left Iraq in 1976 as a result of opposing the policies of the Iraqi regime and returned after April 2003 where he became the permanent representative of Iraq in Geneva and the Humanitarian Coordinator to the United Nations. Ambassador Al-Shibib was the General Director of the State Company for Electrical Industries of Iraq from 1971 to 1976. He was the Assistant General Director of PTT Iraq from 1970 to 1971, and the Assistant General Director of the Electricity Administration of Iraq from 1968 to 1970. Ambassador Al-Shibib is survived by his wife, Ahlam Yahya Al-Shibib, son, Hussain Baha Al-Shibib, daughters, Maha A. Joudi, Baan A. Slavens, Yasmin B. Al-Shibib, grandchildren, Noor A. Joudi, Abdul Kareem Joudi, Jasmine A. Slavens and sons in law, Hisham F. Joudi and Sanders H. Slavens. A private family service was held on Sunday, March 8.
