Barbara was full of life and good cheer. She made everyone she met feel special and truly left a positive mark on this world. She made a difference in her community and in the lives of all of us who knew her. Warm thoughts and prayers for Bob and the rest of the family. Peace be with you.

Despite several decades of being actively encouraged by her to do so, I could rarely bring myself to call Barbara by her first name. I think I told myself that I had to earn that privilege by being as fully self-actualized as possible, a feat she inspired me to approximate. Sorry, Barbara, I just figured it out. The irony is I could have made greater progress toward that goal had I done that one simple thing sooner! You continue even now to teach and inspire.

My heart is hurting from this news. "Mrs. Smucker" influenced me greatly when I was in my teens. She believed in me and I am a better person because of this. My thoughts are with you all.
love,
Martha

I was shocked and so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. I have only known Barbara for a short time, but felt a very warm soul in our relationship which was mostly business by phone. Her friendlyness was delightful. I will pray for Robert and the family.
