Morrell family,

When I think back about Bryan, I remember someone who only expected the best: from himself, from others. The best of friends, the best of times. Whenever I'd visit the Sally Ford cul-de-sac as a kid, even then, every day, I did it with pride. Pride in the families and boys that ruled its domain. Ruled with football games, baseball, remote control race cars. And respect. Remembering back, that was a word he used a lot.

A few years ago I ran into Bryan along the Giles Run trail, where there's a disc golf course. It's a big, tough course. Hilly and unforgiving. I was walking a quarter-mile stretch between holes, and out of nowhere, Bryan pops his head around the corner of a switchback, jogging the course, single disc in hand, flushed-face, a quick and easy smile. I offered to play with him, I think he said he was getting a workout in before work. I don't remember the conversation as much as the feeling: immediate, undeniable presence. Unshakable confidence. When I look back on it, on him, I'm reminded to do all the little things--especially all the little things--to the max.

Morrell family, know that both my prayers are with you. Bryan touched the lives of many, and I am thankful he was a part of mine.

Morrell family,
I was with Bryan, and Kevin Barber, the night I met my wife back in 2013 on the Georgetown waterfront. I didn't want to go out that night but Bryan and Kevin convinced me. Bryan was the one who initiated the conversation with her group of girlfriends, and I am forever grateful for that. He literally changed my life. He was a good friend, and I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you during this tragedy.

Dave, Cindy and Matthew,
No one can understand the depth of your pain unless they are walking in your shoes. May it bring you comfort knowing that others think of you all and are keeping your entire family in our prayers. Bryan was an impressive young man, a real "doer" of whom you must be so proud. We send our deepest condolences. Carol & John Mangan

Morrell Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Bryan from our Oak View days. I remember one day on the kindergarten bus, he sat down next to me and gave me a smooch on the cheek. Being five years old with boys obviously having cooties, I wiped it off dramatically. He then told me he was going to marry me. After telling this story to my mom, she asked what I did. I replied, "I took his hat!"

Bryan will be missed. Sending hugs to your whole family!

Dave, Cindy & Matthew,
When I saw this obituary pop up on the Woodson Alumni Facebook page, I could not believe what I saw. My heart just broke for you all. I will always remember the 3 Morrell boys who I use to babysit when they were such sweet little boys on Jomar Drive. I can not fathom the pain of losing another one of your sweet boys. I am so sorry I could not attend the services, but I now live down in NC. I will forever remember all of you and Cindy's family who use to come visit in the summer. We all had so much fun playing kick ball in front of your house while little Darren, Bryan and Matthew would cheer us on (at the time they were too small to play). I pray that God will help all of you with this unthinkable grief and please know that you have so many people keeping your whole family in their prayers. I am sending you all a great big virtual hug. You now have 2 Angels to watch over you. All my love and prayers are coming your way.

Cindy and Dave, Bryan was an incredible young man and accomplished so much during his time here. We wish we would have known him as adult. Fond memories of him as that little toe head running around Sally Ford Court with his dog Holly. We send you our love and deepest condolences. The Timothy Family

I'm so sorry to hear this Cindy and David. I can't imagine what you're going through. Rob told me about this today and he is pretty upset about it. He said he and Bryan were good friends at Woodson and Rob spoke highly about his skills on the baseball field. Gordon and I are so sorry for your loss of Bryan. I just can't imagine your sorrow. Praying for you.
