Charles McMahon Obituary
Charles D. McMahon, 82, of Falls Church, VA, passed away on August 11, 2024. Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy McMahon, his children, and grandchildren. A celebration of life gathering will take place on Sunday, September 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the next day, Monday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church. I had Mr. McMahon for American Civilization class in 1974 - 1975 at McLean High School. He was one of the best teachers I've ever had. He got us to think about what was really going on, not just memorizing dates and places. He expected us to do the reading, and he really engaged with us. He would talk about topics that were too recent to be in the textbooks (like the cold war) and he sent us down to GWU to get political science texts the students there were reading. In 1982 he was a guest at my wedding to Wendy Levin. Her dad Coach Art Levin (1931-2023) was a good friend of his too.

A larger than life figure who touched many lives in his 82 years. Charlie will be greatly missed by
his family and friends although these past years have been challenging for him and his family. Wonderful memories have been created over these many years. May you have peace....
