Daniel Easley Obituary

Easley

Daniel C. Easley

February 27, 1976 - December 11, 2023

Daniel Christopher Easley ("Dan" to most, but always "Danny" to his mother and sisters) passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 47 in McLean, Virginia.

Dan is survived by his sons, Owen and Nathan, his daughter Harper, his mother Joan, and his sisters Allison, Angela, and Emily. He also is survived by his many nieces and nephews, brother in laws, friends, and loved ones.

Dan was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science, and received his M.A. and J.D. at George Mason University and School of Law. He loved watching sports with his son Owen, cooking and dancing with his daughter Harper, and laughing and being silly with his son Nathan.

Dan's career was centered in Washington, DC, a place he felt a gravitational pull towards as a teenager and young man, and captured perfectly Dan's passion for politics and governmental work. Washington, DC is where Dan thrived and considered his home. Dan's vast professional accomplishments spanned governmental work in the U.S. House of Representatives and private sector work in regulatory, governmental, and federal affairs in the transportation and energy industries.

Dan was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His world was centered on his children, and you could always find Dan caring for and doing fun things together with Owen, Harper, and Nathan. Their favorite things were enjoying time with family at the beach in Emerald Isle, NC, following their top sports teams, fishing, singing, dancing, playing video games, and simply enjoying a lazy day at home spending time together. Dan loved to watch his kids' sports and activities, listen to music, golf, fish, and read. He was handsome, highly intellectual, and could make you laugh like no other. You could always count on Dan to tell you exactly what he was thinking. You could always count on Dan to be there for anyone that needed him. He loved his children and family fiercely.

Dan's mother and sisters will be organizing a private celebration of his life. This will be Dan's official memorial service conducted by his mother and sisters where we honor his memory with his children and with those who knew him and loved him. We will share details of his memorial service and would be grateful for you to share your memories of Dan.

Please contact his mother, Joan Easley, at [email protected] to share your memories and for more information on the memorial service and college fund.

I just found out about Dan´s passing and am so very sorry. We worked together in the airline industry for a couple years. My deepest condolences.

Our sincerest condolences to Danny's entire family. Our family lived across from their barn (and their infamous turkey) in Durham, NC a good number of years ago. Many memories were made between our daughter, Claire, and Danny's sister, Emily. It was such a pleasure to know the Easley family. Unfortunately, as time goes by, we lose track of good neighbors. We wanted you to know we are praying for each of you as you deal with your loss.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Dan´s passing. Dan played a huge role in the operation of the Congressional office which I was fortunate to hold for a while. That wouldn´t have been the case without Dan and the other young, enthusiastic professionals who were his colleagues. Dan was smart, friendly, committed, dedicated, and loyal. Our office staff was a family and Dan was a major part of that family. I owe him a lot. It was a pleasure to have known him and to have been a small part of his big life. He will be fondly remembered forever.

My sincerest condolences to Dan´s family-the one thing he valued most of all. He was very protective of his 3 sisters which he boasted he raised, despite his birth order, and identified most not by his musical, intellectual, or profes-sional achievements, but as a "suburban dad," who, when he was having an "amazing" day and I asked him why it was amazing, he said "I spent it hanging out and cuddling with my kids." OverThanksgiving, he told me that playing cards with his nieces in his family´s homes in Emerald Isle was one of the highlights of the holiday for him.

Dan valued loyalty and kindness, tempered with humor and irreverence in others as well as himself. Recently, we both went to an event at the National Gallery @night, focused on Native American art. He had done a lot of First Nation work in Canada and Alaska (and fishing) while at Exxon, and looked forward to it. Shortly before going, he texted that he "once was escorted out of the national gallery as a kid for touching a priceless painting with an umbrella when I was 8. So (you) have that to look forward to."

I am praying every day for him and all those that loved him.

Sincere condolences as well as prayers and peace to all of Danny´s family. Dan and I became friends in high school through music and singing in the Knightsounds show choir. He had an incredible voice (tenor 1!) which I always admired because I remember him beating me out of most solo auditions :) He and I became much closer in friendship when we started a 4-person male a cappella group. I´ll always remember Dan´s humor, mischievous yet charming smile, his amazing vocal talent and his true friendship. It´s wonderful knowing he grew up to become such a wonderful father with many passions.
