Died September 27, 2002 at his home in Manalapan, FL with his family in attendance. Mr. Snowdon graduated from Western High School in Washington, D.C. in 1929 and from Wesleyan University in 1933. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Intelligence during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze star and two Croix De Guerre from France for his service in the liberation. Mr. Snowdon worked for the Charles L. Wagner Opera Company and Young and Rubican in New York City until his retirement in 1972, when he and his late wife, Lee Hill Snowdon moved to Manalapan, FL from their long time residence in Plainfield, NJ. Mr. Snowdon was a member of the Everglades Club and was a past Commodore of both the Manalapan Yacht Club and the Key Largo Anglers Club. He is survived by two sons, Richard of Washington, D.C. and Edward Jr. of New York City; a daughter, Margot of Wilson, WY; five grandchildren, and one great grandson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Bethesda-By-The-Sea-Church in Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Snowdon Fund at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, 700 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.
