FULTON RAY GORDON JR.

Fulton Ray Gordon Jr. passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. Ray was a second generation Washingtonian and the son of the late Fulton Ray Gordon Sr. and the late Ellen Gray Gordon. In 1946, he graduated from the Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA and went on to play football at Michigan State University. At the end of his freshman year, he returned to Washington, DC to care for his ailing father and to help run his father's real estate company. He enrolled at The George Washington University where he met his future bride of over 60 years "Bobbie" Levy. After graduating from GW with a BA in Business Administration, he became an active realtor and served on the Washington Board of Realtors. Later, he became a home builder in Northern Virginia and developed 11 different properties including town houses, single family homes and condominiums.

Ray was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, the DC Jaycees, and the Greater Washington Board of Trade. He was a Director of the former Old Line National Bank and the District Reality Title Insurance Corporation. He served on the vestry of All Saints Church Chevy Chase and was a 52 year member of Columbia Country Club. Ray was a sports enthusiast and an avid golfer who played golf through his 92nd year.

Of all his accomplishments in life, Ray took the most pride in being a devoted husband to Bobbie and father to Fulton R. Gordon III "Sandy" (Gloria), Susie Maguire (Ned), Stephen (Mary), Ellie Wynkoop (Ed), Jeffrey (Gretchen), and grandfather of 13.

As one of his many friends commented, "We are all better people for having known Ray Gordon. He was one of the kindest men I have ever met."

The memorial service will take place on Friday, September 15 at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, 3 Chevy Chase Circle, Chevy Chase.
