Of Bradenton, FL died August 1, 2004 at Blake Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 22, 1928 in Washington, DC and moved to Bradenton in 1985. He was a retired senior executive of the Treasury Department, Washington, DC, where he received several awards for his contributions to the development of the U.S. tax laws and his leadership of several technical divisions in the office of the Chief Counsel, IRS. He was a graduate of Georgetown University and the School of Law. He served in the Army Air Corps and was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Bradenton, FL; four children, Robert M. of Gaithersburg, MD, George H. of Houston, TX; Richard L. of Rockville, MD and Jeanne E. of Germantown, MD. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory George. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on September 4, 2004 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Dr., Holmes Beach, FL. Father Robert Mongiello will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Memorial Garden. COVELL CREMATION & FUNERAL CENTER is in charge. I am sadden to hear that George passed away. I met him several years ago at the Bradenton Spa.
We would always talk when we worked out. He seemed to be a great guy. Thoughts and prayers
