Henry Borges Obituary



BORGES HENRY F. BORGES Architect, Real Estate Developer Henry F. Borges died peacefully of congestive heart failure at his home in Key Biscayne, FL. on March 16, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Henry was born on February 23, 1926 in Havana , Cuba . Educated in the United States, Henry graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) with a Bachelor''s Degree in Architecture in 1949. Upon graduation from RPI, he returned to Havana and joined his father''s firm. Together with his father and brother, Henry participated in many large construction projects including the Palace of Justice Building in Havana . Henry and his family moved to the United States in 1959, settling in the Lake Barcroft area of Falls Church,VA. He designed and built many residential and commercial buildings in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Some of the properties created by Henry, along with his brother Max, who was also an architect, continue to be owned and managed by members of the family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Elena Lancis Borges, and his brothers, Max E. Borges and Dr. Albert F. Borges. Henry is survived by his wife, Adelaida Goicolea Saralegui and seven children, Henry A. Borges of San Diego,CA, William Borges (wife Norah) of San Francisco,CA, Ignacio Borges (wife Grizel) of Annandale, VA, Agustin Borges (wife Rosmari) of Reston, VA, Enriqueta (Ketty) Farrell (husband Steve) of Falls Church, VA, Arturo M. Borges of Fairfax, VA, Maria E. Huppe (husband Mike), and nine grandchildren: Nash Borges of Annapolis,MD, Walter Borges of Falls Church, VA, Gabriel Borges of Annandale, VA, Brigitte Borges of Reston, VA, Daniel, Mary and Natalie Farrell of Falls Church, VA, Elena and Ryan Huppe of McLean, VA. Henry is also survived by his two sisters Josie Salazar and Anita Gross of Coral Gables, FL and his sister-in-law Carmen Fernandez of Falls Church , VA. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. John''s Catholic Church located at 6422 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: The Arc (Association of Retarded Citizens) of Northern Virginia , 98 N. Washington Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. Always the quiet one of the three brothers[my uncles], yet he will always be remembered for his kind spirit and determination to succeed as well as dedication to his wife & children.

Always a gentelman with a nice word for everyone .Loved by everyone who knew him. He will be missed by all .We lost another of the good ones .I wish I had seen everyone at the mass but my sources forget sometimes . I love you all , my heart is with you . I loved him too .
