On Wednesday, December 5, 2001. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Ellen Hailes. Also survived by eights sons, Donell (Bobby), James Jr., Julian, Edward, Roger, Joseph, Stanley, and Larry; three daughters, Louise Johnson, Mildred Lacy, and Geraldine Hailes, seven daughters-in-law, Brenda, Gwendolyn, Mary, Sharon, Susan, Jerri and Lynn; 31 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one sister, Carrie Diggs, one brother, Henry Hailes, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5119 4th St., N.W. Rev. Frank Coaxum, officiating. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by MCGUIRE.
