JAMES LAMBERT Obituary

LAMBERT James M. Lambert Professor Emeritus, Georgetown University 1928-2018 February 18, 1928 - March 21, 2018 Jim lived a remarkably, even miraculously, healthy and full life following a seven-year bout with tuberculosis (TB) starting in his teens that left him with only half a lung on each side. He is survived by the woman he fell in love with at first site while recovering from TB, Margaret Arnold Lambert, his wife of nearly 65 years. He is also survived by three children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a nephew and two step-sisters. His family and friends could always expect a gregarious greeting and thoughtful inter- actions from Jim. This was born from an unswerving conviction from his TB days to treat his family and all people with great dignity and to live life with excellence and integrity. His Physics and Astronomy students at Georgetown benefited from his commitment to memorize his class notes so that he could teach every class with undistracted excellence. His colleagues and the physics community benefited from his commitment to analyze every quantum three-body interaction in his 75 publications from high energy accelerators around the world with unquestionable redundant accuracy. The Georgetown University and neighborhood community benefited from his extensive and honorable service. His extended family and friends bathed in him being the life of a party and his clear delight in being together. His children benefited from his high standards coupled with absolute unwavering and tangible support. Memorial information: Saturday, April 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Ingleside at King Farm, 701 King Farm Blvd., Rockville, MD 20850.
