JAMES G. MURPHY  
James G. Murphy, 94, of Venice, FL passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014. James was born July 25, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late James P. and Beatrice F. (Gilbert) Murphy. James is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary, sons James F., Andrew P., Christopher J., Gerard J. Brian T. and Timothy M.; daughters, Mary E. Leonard, Patricia B. Darrigan and Therese M. Hester; 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor Kromke and Sr. Christine Marie. James served with the United States Army during WWII in Panama, India and China. James and his wife Mary moved to Venice in 1977 from Bethesda, MD. He worked for the National Institute of Health in cancer research as a Ph.D. chemist. He was a member of The American Chemical Society, Elks, American Legion, Moose and Epiphany Cathedral. A Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, 10:00 am at Epiphany Cathedral. Ewing Funeral Home, Venice, Florida in charge of arrangements.
