JAMES STOCKTON Obituary


JAMES ARTHUR STOCKTON (Age 82)  
Of Springfield, VA died on October 1, 2016 due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by Carol who was his wife for 60 years; sons David (Pamela) and Eric (Sarah) Stockton; daughter Susan Waring; grandchildren Daniel, Katie, and Benjamin Stockton and Elin and Laura Waring; brother Philip (Donna) Stockton; nieces and nephews. The son of John and Dorothy Stockton, Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 30, 1934 and grew up in Bowling Green, Ohio. After graduating from Bowling Green State University he served as a fighter pilot in the USAF, earning several medals including the Bronze Star and Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters during the Vietnam conflict. After leaving the Air Force he worked as an Intelligence Research Analyst at Fort Bragg and then the Washington Navy Yard before retiring in 1999. Since he was 15 years old Jim's favorite hobby was barbershop music. singing in choruses and quartets throughout the US and in Canada and Japan. In international chorus competitions he won numerous awards including four first place Gold Medals. A Memorial Service is being arranged. The location and date will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers please consider the Alzheimer's Association, (alz.org), The Barbershop Harmony Foundation (www.harmonyfoundation.org) or a book in Jim's name for your local public library.
