James A. Taylor Sr. (Age 90)
Of Ocean Pines, MD, formerly of Rockville, MD, he passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023. Beloved father of James A. Taylor Jr., Mary Katherine Taylor, Patricia A. Taylor, Scott A. Taylor and the late Steven L. Taylor. Cherished "Poppy" to grandchildren, Allison, Nicholas, Heather, Ross, Briauna, Braden and Cameron, and his first great-grandchild, Jack Brennan. Brother of the late Joseph F. Taylor, Jr., Mary Kamenar, Marie T. Jensen, and John M. Taylor. Also survived by his beloved partner of many years, Marianne Ulshafer.
Jim proudly served in the US Navy and went on to serve as a volunteer fireman in Washington, DC. He was a former realtor, mortgage broker and entrepreneur. He became a distinguished lecturer and motivational speaker and was a treasured mentor to many who struggled with addiction and depression. Jim was a gifted "Santa" every year to a host of hospitals, nursing and children's homes for a number of years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and remained an active participant in his Catholic Church throughout his life.
Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael's Church, 1513 Dunster Road (at Falls Road), Rockville, MD 20854 on Saturday, December 30, at 12 noon. To all of the Taylor family, Jim was very much loved by our family. Our kids and grandkids considered Jim a family member. He will never be forgotten and all our thoughts of him will always be the best and brightest. Our prayers and thoughts are with him and also all of you. May he rest in peace.
