Janet Brenner Obituary

BRENNER

JANET BRENNER (Age 95)

Janet Brenner passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022, at her home in Rockville, Maryland. She is survived by her three children and two step-children (Meg Jonas (John), Kim Jonas (Jacki), Amanda Freeman (Matthew), David Brenner (Jane Marie), and Paul Brenner) as well as three grandchildren (Ilya Jonas, Iris Brenner and Thea Brenner). She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Brenner and by her stepson, Sandy Brenner.

A long-time resident of the Washington, DC area, Janet appreciated the art and music opportunities available to her. She served as a docent at both the National Gallery of Art and the Corcoran Gallery, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Phillips Collection. She received a law degree from The George Washington University Law School, and was licensed in the District of Columbia. She had enduring passions for travel, fine dining and jazz music.

A life-long conservative, she was also a staunch supporter of women's reproductive freedom. Contributions may be made in her name to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2023 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bethesda, MD (details will be added to her obituary at Pumphrey Funeral Home).
