Jean Pierre Marie Graziani

April 16, 1924 – February 15, 2022

Jean was born in Campitello, Corsica (France) on April 16, 1924. At an early age, he entered the minor diocesan seminary in Ajaccio, Corsica to train for the priesthood. In 1943, Corsica was liberated by American forces and he left the seminar to volunteer for the Free French Army Air Force. He was sent to Algeria and later, Morocco for training, and subsequently boarded a Liberty ship to come to the United States for further training with the US Army Air Force. When the war was over, he wanted to remain in the US, and took a job with the French Military Mission in Washington. In 1949, he left the Mission and took up a job with a friend who taught him ceramic tile construction. Later, he formed his own business as French Tile and Marble Co. In 1950, he married his beloved wife, Betty. He became an American citizen in 1969. Jean was treasurer of La Joyeuse Boule (a petanque club) and an outstanding player who won many trophies. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and The French Veterans Association. He is survived by his wife, Betty; two nieces; a niece-in-law; two nephews; many good friends and colleagues; as well as family and friends in France. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 26 at 12 noon at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Falls Church, VA.

Jean was a good person well loved by those who knew him. May he find happiness on that beautiful Pétanque piste in the sky.
