JOHN PATRICK COE SR. (Age 71)
On Sunday, August 20, 2023, of Olney, MD. Beloved husband for 48 years of Eileen Barry Coe; father of Erin Coe Fristoe (John), John Coe, Jr., and Alison Coe (Drew); grandfather of Maggie, Cullen, Grayson, Gavin, Keegan, and Connor. He is also survived by his cousin, Jack Coe and other loving family and friends. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Sunday, August 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. The family will also receive friends at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, August 31, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) or DeMatha Catholic High School.

I am so very sad to hear about the passing of John. When I was appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of New Carrollton in 2005 John, who used to be the first contract police officer for the City of New Carrollton, called and congratulated me and also gave me valuable information on who was who in the City and insight into areas of concern. This information was invaluable. Mayor Hanko could not say enough good things about John as a resident and as New Carrollton's first contract officer. Mayor Hanko would say to me, you have big shoes to fill and he was right. This world is a much lesser place without John in it, but I know he will be watching over us all. Myself and the New Carrollton Police Department send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Coe family.
