To the Bowie Family, I mourn your loss and my family's prayers are added for your comfort at this difficult time. We may never understand how God moves in our lives, the people's whose lives we touch or how we will be remembered. But we can be comforted in knowing that God is always in control.
Joe is in a better place now, and I pray comfort and peace to all those that he has left behind.
God Bless you All!

I would like to extend my sympathy to the Bowie family. You have been in my thoughts and prayers.
Joe, I don't remember where and when we first got to know each other but I'm glad we did and that you called me friend. Despite not seeing each other much, you always had a way of making me feel like we were best friends. With your great smile and laugh, I'm sure everyone you were with felt the same way. There was no b.s. to you Joe and I loved that. I already knew that you had a big heart after you had reached out to me after my mother had passed but I have since learned it was far larger than I had thought. You are one of a kind Joe and I will never forget you nor will I ever met another one like you for the rest of my days. Keep them in line up there Joe and I hope to see you again. R.I.P. my friend.

Peppy - what a name and how good of a match was that! Your momma knew something about you early on! You were a person who lived life with such verve and passion! Peppy described you to a "T"! Although I didn't see you often, you will be sorely missed because that laugh was so contagious and that hug made you feel so good. I am so sad that you are gone but know that I am such a fan of yours because you stepped out there and did things that I would never dare to dream. You were a good guy who took care of his own and others as well. You made your mark and touched so many while doing so and that is something special. Now that you have made your mark, it's time for you to rest. Receive your reward now and be with the Master, take your crown and don your robe, sit down beside Him and talk for as long as you want. Rest in peace and know that you will never be forgotten. (Save me a seat up there!) Many blessings and much comfort to my cousins. Love Monnie

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I just so happened to look at the paper this morning and all I could see was this beautiful smile that brought back memories of a person that was loved by me and many people at Champions Billiards. Heaven is rejoicing to have Joe there.

To the best brother-in-law ever, Joe will be missed tremendously. Joe would give you the shirt off of his back. He was just that kind of guy. There is no doubt that he is looking down from heaven at all of us he has touched in some way. Whether it was with a wonderful smile or joke, or knowledgeable wisdom. Joe was like a living almanac full of knowledge. Rest in peace.. Love you man!!!

Miss Me, But Let Me Go
Author Unknown.
When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take,
and each must go alone.
Its all a part of the masters plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know.
Bear your sorrow in good deeds.
Miss me,but let me go.

How painful it has been to realize that such a wonderful, positive, loving friend has passed. I not only had the pleasure of knowing Joe from Laurel High but I was fortunate enough to work with him out of the Gaithersburg Depot for WSSC. He always was my "protector"...as a female in a male dominated job he made sure I was respected. THANK YOU JOE. I will never forget our days of bragging about our kids. Bless you and may God comfort your family.

Joe, I will miss you my friend, I'll miss your laugh and your crazy smiles. I'll look back with fondness on our time in Laurel High School, playing football, living the dream, becoming men, sharing stories about life and enjoying the company of good friends. Rest well big fella and know that your time here counted and you'll be missed immensely!

Peppy I don’t know how you got that nickname but how it fitted you. That’s all I knew you by. You were energetic, jovial, always smiling. You were like a Dennis the Menace to me. You would appear out of no where with always a smile wanting to get in the car. I never knew where you came from (smile). When you grew up you grew up so big and handsome when I saw you and you still had the same Peppy smile and a hug I will never forget. Your hugs were so warm that your job in heaven should be at the gate to hug everyone that enters. It seems you touch a lot of lives and that is what life was about. You are present with the Lord what a rest.
God will comfort us as we morn the missing of you. Love you.

I am sorry to hear about a great guy like Joe passing. I felt like I knew him personally. He was great friend of my brother Paul Hammond, who loved him dearly. To hear my brother cry he had to have meant a lot to him. Joe is in a beautiful resting place and some day we'll meet. The Hammond family

Joe (PEPPY to me) always tried to play "Mr. Tough Guy" but we all knew you weren't anything but a big, loveable, cuddly teddy bear!

Joe told people he had a thing where he would not hug females. So one day he was sitting with his back to me and I grabbed and hugged him from behind. He fought a little then he gave in and held my hands and he looked at me like a cuddly Teddy bear and said, Thanks, I needed that. We became closer friends after that and he would give me an occasional bear hug when he saw me. My prayers are with the Family and friends.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
