Died August 7, 2005 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD, after losing her battle with ovarian cancer. Mrs. Keller was born February 12, 1941 in Jefferson County, PA. She graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, NY with a BA, and from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota with a Masters in Applied Science/Mathematics. She retired in December 2004 after a 25 year career with the National Security Agency. Joyce lived for 26 years in Columbia, MD where she was an active member of Chapelgate Presbyterian Church and was involved in many of their outreach ministries, and with Young Life ministry for teens. She enjoyed square dancing, mountain hiking, and baking pies. Mrs Keller was predeceased by her mother Evelyn Buhite; her father Devere Meade Buhite; and her brother Howard. She is survived by a brother Russell Buhite of Missouri; and a sister Marion Asel of Pennsylvania; a daughter June Keller DeFabio of Virginia; a son David Keller of Florida; and two granddaughters Martyna Keller, and Margaret DeFabio. The memorial service for Joyce Keller will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at Chapelgate Presbyterian Church, 2600 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104 (near Columbia, MD). There will be a reception directly following the service at the church hall. The Family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice Center, 6601 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21204.
