Karen Dee was a tireless advocate for the teaching and learning of mathematics for all children. She was held in the highest regard within her profession. She made an impact - for decades. We will miss her so much - her smile, her caring, her mind.

Mrs. Mikey was so great to my children, Erica and Matthew Gminski. I was fortunate enough to have been one of the parent "chaperones" on both of my childrens 8th grade, camping trips. Our very fond thoughts and our prayers are with her family at this upsetting time.

Mrs. Mikey (as we called her at Langley) taught me pre-Algrebra in 6th grade. She made a typically cut-and-dry subject actually interesting, relevant, and stimulating.. She was a real spunky teacher that no one messed with. She will be missed.

We are very saddened to hear of Karen's passing. Karen taught both my girls 25 years ago at Queen of Apostles. She was my oldest daughter's mentor for years! How Stephanie adored Mrs Mikey....
She was the most "giving" teacher, the children knew that she loved them.
Our prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
You now have a "Special" Angel in Heaven to watch over you.

I will miss Mrs. Michalowicz's dry sense of humor the most, the smirk she gave when she thought something was funny but yet wouldn't condone it. Joleen and Mike, she'll always be with you. I know she was blessed to have you as her children. You and your families are in our prayers.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Michalowicz. I was shocked when her son Mike called to tell me the news. Karen was only a few years older than my mother. From what I could tell, Karen was a tough lady. I know Mike and Joleen will miss her and I'm sure her students will remember her.

Nana, Joleen, and Michael,
I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Michalowicz's passing. She was such a sweet person. It is so sad to lose your mom/daughter. I know she had a very strong faith, so she is at peace in Heaven now. She will be the prettiest Angel in Heaven and watch over all of you, especially her grandkids. Hopefully she will find my Mom and Dad and they can talk about old times in Glen Forest.
Take Care,
Tina (Holeman)Johnson

I called Karen Michalowicz in May of this year (2006) out of a whim. I called her to tell her of the positive impact she had on my life. She was my 5th & 6th grade teacher in Alexandria, VA some 30 years ago. We had a wonderful conversation of at least 45 minutes and she didn't complain about a thing. My love and condolences go to Irene Shuman, Joleen & Michael, whom I have come to know in those early years as wonderful and supportive folks.
