Lois Vorhis Obituary

Lois Evelyn Willis Vorhis, of Midlothian, VA, died on June 22, 2024, at age 97. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald George Vorhis.
Born in New Bern, NC, she was class Valedictorian at Newport News High School and received her BA in Library Science from the College of William & Mary. She worked at The Library of Congress in the Congressional Research Division, and then her husband's work took them to postings in Japan, Okinawa, Korea, and Thailand. In addition to raising their three children, Lois served in each assignment, in hospitals, libraries, schools and with Scout groups. A member of several international clubs, Lois was President of the Seoul International Women's Club.
Upon returning to the US, Lois worked as a librarian at George Mason Regional Library. The couple retired to Brandermill Woods in Midlothian, VA, where Lois volunteered at the community's library, nearby schools, and at Johnston-Willis Hospital.
Lois and Don were most proud of the family they raised, and enjoyed watching the children, grand- and great-grandchildren grow and mature.
A memorial service will be held at The Brandermill Church on Saturday, August 10 at 1 p.m.
