I was so sad to hear about your loss of Marty. We worked together 20 years ago. We had a lot of fun, and I smile to think of how you can be productive and still have cookies and milk every day at 3. I was sorry not to be able to make the service on Saturday. I will remember him always.

Dear Jim, Aileen, Kathy, Sharon, and extended family. We were extremely saddened to learn of Marty's passing. Like Kim, most of our memories of Marty were at Grandma Carter's house and the great family vacation to VA. What wonderful memories they are. He was a great kid and as evidenced by the pages in this book, a warm, loving adult. Words cannot express the depth of our sympathy.
With Love

My Family, The Childers,
I am very sadden to hear of the passing of Marty. He had a wonderful soul that has touched many lives.
I find it such a tragedy that I really didn't get to know Marty as the man that he became. I hold my childhood memories of Marty very close to my heart.
Because of such a big family, we spent alot of time outside in Grandma's Carter's yard. Climbing the bean and peach trees, playing freeze tag and joining in the Wynne's family tradition of cartwheel contests. Although most of those memories were made at Grandma's house, some came from our vacation to Virginia in 1976. What a wonderful time we had. Swimming, sightseeing, ice skating and learning that silly song!! Fried Ham, Fried Ham. Kelli and I still sing that song to this day and it brings a smile to our faces!
I wish for you, that the memories that you hold dear to your heart will bring you comfort in knowing what a fun and loving person Marty was.
With my deepest sympathies for all who knew and loved Marty.

Capt. Jim, Aileen, Randy, Kathy, Sharon, Nicole and Ally:
Even though there have been many miles and many years between us, in my heart we will always be next door neighbors and good friends that like the stars-you may not see them but you know they are there. To lose a son, a brother and an uncle is to lose part of you who are. The ties of family can never really be undone. I hope that the pain of this great loss becomes less and less and is healed by the wonderful memories of your lives with Marty and the love only a family can share. I will always remember Marty’s quick smile, his warmth and his caring eyes. Not to mention his great dance moves! I always had fun when Marty was around. I remember when Kathy and Marty “caught” each other when we went out on the floating condominium down at the Bay and all the fun with him at the girls’ birthdays and all the other family events I shared with you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To my family, your strength through this hard period in our lives is inspirational. It is hard that it takes moments like these to make one realize how much their family means to them. It is a testimony to Marty's life that he was loved by so many, who have graciously shared their thoughts an prayers with us. Marty, you will always be with us, and missed by many who's lives you have touched. - Pooh Bear

To the Childers Family--
I have thought of you often in the week since I learned of Marty's death. I know how important all of you were to him, individually and collectively, because he spoke of you often.
Marty was a wonderful friend to me--the kind of friend you accept as family. Marty was with me during some of the happiest and most carefree times of my life. I have amazing memories of him having fun.
Marty was also with me to pick up the pieces when my life fell apart. He endured a lot with me and for me.
It sounds so cliche, but I wish I had not let time and distance come between us in recent years and that I' had picked up the phone those dozen or so times I thought about him, but didn't.
I am grateful for the time Marty was in my life and for the memories I have of wonderful times with him that I will carry with me forever.
May peace be with you,
James Millner

Martin or Marty will be missed here at the place he rode his motor bike to each workday. Though we only got to work together for a short time, his humor and presence will be missed. Especially the time he insisted upon riding along slowly on his bike to the subway after our long work day.
My sympathies to the family, I too know the heartache of a son's passing.

Marty,
Each day a memory of you comes to mind. I'll never ever forget the laughs we had. One of the funniest of you calling me and your home number coming up on the caller ID as Shiloh Baptist. Me saying to you "shalom". You laughing saying that would be okay if if were Shiloh Temple instead of Shiloh Baptist. You were right, Shalom is different than Baptist! What was I thinking. We also had some great times growing up and your wit and humor keep me going everyday. I really do miss talking to you though. I know also Amanda really misses you. We love you........
