MARTIN EGAN Obituary
Colonel MARTIN J. EGAN, JR (Age 80)
Passed away March 25, 2013 at Inova Hospital in Alexandria, VA in the presence of friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Margaret Tormey and Martin John Egan, Sr., and brother Harold Egan. He is survived by siblings Rita Maureen Hubert of Seattle, WA; Joshua Egan Breland of Auburn, WA; and James Edward Egan of Honolulu, HI. The Colonel, a Marine fighter pilot, flew 275 combat missions during the Viet Nam War, many over the North, and commanded a Marine Fighter Squadron at Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Station, Japan. A long-time Alexandria resident, he was well known in Old Town; you immediately knew where Marty stood on any subject! His funeral will be conducted at Arlington Cemetery, date to be determined. As Marty said, "My remains will be at Demaine's" (Funeral Home, 520 S Washington St, Alexandria); two viewings, Friday, March 29 - 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 - 2 to 4 p.m. The Colonel would love to see his friends one more time.
