MARY ELIZABETH ANDREJCZAK (Age 67)
MARY ELIZABETH WILLARD ANDREJCZAK of Huddleston, VA, died in the presence of her husband and daughter at her home of four years on Saturday, June 23, 2007 of complications from metastatic breast cancer. She retired to Smith Mountain Lake with her husband and resided in their dream home after working and raising a family in Rockville, MD for 37 years. She was born May 19, 1940 in Raleigh, NC and lived much of her life in Charlotte, NC. She was the older daughter of the late Thomas Payne Willard and Mozelle Goodwin Willard.
Mary Liz graduated from Wake Forest University in 1962. She went on to receive a Master's degree in Psychology at Peabody in Nashville, TN and then became a doctoral candidate there in School Psychology. During her professional career she was a staff School Psychologist in the Co. School System in Maryland and later a School Psychologist in the Child Find program in the Baltimore Co. Public School System. In between assignments she acquired a degree in accounting and passed her boards as a CPA, working for several accounting firms.
Mary Liz was a member of the Staunton Baptist Church, Newcomers, and the Smith Mountain. Arts Council (SMAC). She was a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce at the Visitors Center at the Lake. Her enjoyment of singing was lived out thru her church choir, with the Lakeside Singers for three years, and, especially the Noteables, a small group of women entertaining residents of retirement and nursing homes. She was the Noteables representative to SMAC.
Mary Liz was preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy P. McCormick. She is survived by her husband, Gene Andrejczak, now of Huddleston, VA; one daughter, Catherine L. McCormick and her husband, Mark of Centerville, VA; one son, Matthew A. Andrejczak of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Janice Willard Woods of Greensboro, NC; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Pokora of Grand Rapids, MI; two grandchildren, Kelly E. and Erin P. McCormick; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Ministry Programs at Kensington Baptist Church, 10100 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD 20895, to the Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC), P.O. Box 745, Moneta, VA 24121 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
A celebration of Mary Liz's life occurred on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Staunton Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Smith conducting the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A memorial service will be held for Mary Liz's church friends, co-workers and Washington/Baltimore area friends at the Kensington Baptist Church in Kensington, MD on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 1 p.m.
