Simply put, Maurice Coja was really a great guy! He inspired the hundreds of employees and admiring friends at The Brickskeller, one of America's first Down Home Saloons in the Nation's Capital!

I remember Uncle Maurice on Halloween playing Dracula, and the great parties he and Aunt June used to have at their house. I'll miss him

Quite a guy! Never realized he was so talented. I met him later in life and enjoyed his stories and stimulating opinions. He certainly will be missed.

Heart felt gratitude for all the conversations and wisdom he shared with all of us across the light of the host stand...on topics that spanned far beyond 22nd Street...Great astute spirit!

HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST
God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
And whispered, "Come with me."
With tear-filled eyes we watched him
suffer and fade away.
Although we loved him deeply,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Maurice was one-of-a-kind - such a creative, imaginative man with a great mind, and the most loyal friend we could ever wish for. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Pat!

Maurice was an inspiration to many of us beer lovers, some who have gone on to actually produce new craft beers at several different breweries. I know I cut my teeth at the Tuppers beer tastings that he hosted at the Brick and have many fond memories of those events. Fare they well, a life well lived.

Maurice was probably the most interesting person I have ever met. The original Dos Equis man. So sorry this man is no longer with us. Extremely sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have lost one of my dearest friends. Even though I got to see Pat and Maurice at least once or twice a year the friendship was there. Pat, I can not even find the words to help you get through this but I know you will. You and Maurice will always be in my heart. Many prayers and hugs to you my dear Friend.
