MICHAEL MUSGROVE Obituary

MICHAEL MUSGROVE
Michael Musgrove, 45, died suddenly on March 20, 2017, at his home in Kensington, Maryland. Born in Georgia, Mike moved to Maryland in the early 1990s. He graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis. After college, he began working for the Washington Post. Starting in the mailroom, Mike ultimately became a staff writer and columnist at the Post for many years.Mike was an Eagle Scout, and he was always prepared. He took great care of his mother. He knew the power of words, and had a wry sense of humor. He could do anything he set his mind to do, like completing an Ironman Triathlon in 2013. He wrote a novel. He traveled extensively. He loved spending time with his friends. He loved all kinds of music, especially loud, live music. But most of all, he loved his daughter Zoe and his stepson Jackson. Fatherhood was, by far, Mike's greatest joy. Mike was the son of Patricia (Burton) and the late William Musgrove; the husband of Dr. Kimberly Baer; the father of Zoe Musgrove, 8, and Jackson Baer, 16; and the brother of Skip Musgrove and Cindy Deacon.A Memorial Service will be held at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mike's name to the Montgomery County Humane Society. May your wonderful memories fill the hole in your souls, with time. I treasure the zany adventures Mike and I had in school. I'm sure I have photos somewhere to share. Peace to you all.

This is a huge loss. I'm so sorry. I have fond memories of MIke from high school and then reconnecting here in DC.

Many, many years ago, Mike did a brief stint in The Post's Loudoun County bureau when I was an editor there. He was smart, talented, cheerful and funny -- a boon to the spirits of other young reporters who felt stranded far from the real newsroom. I remember him fondly and gratefully.

My memories of my cousin, Mike, are deep and with much fondness. Even though 20 years his senior, we shared much in common; our love of music, Jekyll Island family get togethers, and our Westminster experiences were among many. Our family is deeply saddened but will always remember and love Mike and his many gifts. Horace and Martha Robinson

Oh, Kim, I am so sad to learn this and am so concerned for all of you, especially Zoe. Love, Marty King (Tom's cousin whom you all visited in Baltimore.)

March 23, 2017

My condolences to the family. May the fond memories you cherish and the peace of God comfort and sustain you in your time of need.
