MICHAEL MANUEL VLAHOS  
Michael Manuel Vlahos, 87, of Falls Church, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his residence. Dr. Vlahos came to this area from San Antonio, Texas during the 1950's. When first arriving in the area he worked for Senator Lyndon B. Johnson. Following that time Dr. Vlahos attended Georgetown University where he completed his undergraduate studies and medical school. Dr. Vlahos was the first physician in Sterling, Virginia and he was a general practitioner. He was affiliated with INOVA Fairfax Hospital for 40 years. Dr. Vlahos assisted the FAA with pilot physicals for 20 years. He was a member of Westwood Country Club and was a member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. He was a Navy veteran and an Air National Guard pilot. He was preceded in death by his son, Manuel M. Vlahos and his daughter, Linda Williams.Survivors include his son, Randall Vance Vlahos of Silver Spring, Maryland; two daughters, Anastasia Vlahos and son-in-law, Anthony Rodriguez, both of New York City, New York; Robin Kaitschuck and son-in-law, Michael Kaitschuck, both of Spring, Texas; their mother, Kathy Vlahos of Falls Church, Virginia; a sister, be Grace Zanios of Mason City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Melinda Shrewsbury, Nicholas Kaitschuck, Nadia Vlahos and Gregory Noble; six great-grandchildren, Evangelina, Rowan, Ayden, Devyn, Jade and Damien .Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Montgomery Cemetery in Olney, Maryland following the service.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Georgetown University Medical Center or The Wounded Warriors Project.www.everlycommunity.com
