I too fondly remember Professor Rice; I am a trial lawyer and rely, daily, on what I learned from him. He was demanding, but fair, and tons of fun which is unique in law school!

I was so sorry to have just heard about the loss of a favored professor. My husband and I were students in Professor Rice's class in 1987. He was warm, brilliant (intimidating), and unforgettable. He always spoke so warmly of his family and he was a tireless educator. He will be greatly missed but certainly never forgotten.

Just viewed the photo tribute and what a story it tells of Paul and his love of life and family. I am honored to have met him briefly, to have read his stories, and to share a unique friendship with Jane. Blessings, Love, and Peace to you all.

While I am certain that Paul is creating some serious laughing fits with others in the sprit world, he has left a void here. My heart and love go out to you, Jane, Allyson, Andrew and your families... Paul would have words to describe my feelings and they would be beautiful and bring a smile. ...right now the words beach and oatmeal come to mind.

I was Professor Rice's student during another hot summer 12 years ago. He was a tireless teacher with an attention to detail that necessitated more work than I had ever done for a law school course. All these years later, now a law professor myself, I not only remember and use numerous skills and concepts he taught me about Evidence, but I also call on my memories of his teaching style for inspiration. I still remember sitting in his office admiring the dahlias in a vase he had brought in from home and when I told him they reminded me of a my Grandma he said, "they're a real Grandma Flower." Right after that he walked me to the registrar's office to change my grade, after sparring with me intellectually for several minutes about the exam question I "challenged." He was way too kind to do that--I am certain his exam question was well reasoned and my
"alternative" answer was a stretch. But changing it raised my course grade slightly, and I know compassion played a role in his decision. He was a special man and I thank him.

What will I do without my dear old friend Paul to set me straight, to remind me that i'm a hick from KY, to drink my bourbon, to make me laugh. It's going to be a dull world.

My sympathy to Marguerite and her family. I never met Paul, but heard glowing reports about him. Kathryn
