Philip Rosenthal Obituary

Philip Rosenthal, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 82.
Phil was a proud 1964 graduate of West Virginia University, where he studied business and served as president of his fraternity, Phi Sigma Delta. With his beloved wife Gloria, he made a home in the D.C. area. Over more than 50 years, he grew a local business—Nationwide Credit Corporation—from a two-person operation into one of the region's most respected and successful accounts receivable firms.
Deeply committed to helping others, Phil served on the Fairfax County Library Board of Trustees and the Community Action Advisory Board, where he worked to expand access to books, education, and resources for all. He believed strongly in the power of knowledge, community, and giving back.
He was the loving husband of the late Gloria Rosenthal, and a cherished brother to Elaine Ross; devoted father to Lisa Helmick, Jennifer Bolton and her husband Steve, and Allen Rosenthal; grandfather to Paige, Camille, Natalie and her husband Nick, Claire and her husband Jonathan, and David and his wife Kaiana; and great-grandfather to Natalie's children, Emmett and Corinne. His love, wisdom, and steadfast support left an indelible mark on his family, instilling values of faith, integrity, perseverance, and compassion.
Phil will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the example he set through his kindness and service.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22 at 10 a.m. at Etz Hayim Synagogue, 2920 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22204. Following the service, there will not be a procession. The graveside service will take place at 12 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032. While an earlier version of the program indicated the graveside service would be private, the family wishes to make clear that everyone is warmly invited to attend.
A celebration of Philip's life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at his home in Fairfax Station, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, an organization close to the Rosenthal family and dedicated to pancreatic cancer research in memory of Phil's beloved wife, Gloria.
Philip Rosenthal's legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire his family, friends, and community for generations to come.

I remember Phil so well as a classmate at Beth Center high school in Fredericktown PA. I especially remember him as a loyal attendee at our frequent class reunions for the Class of 1960. His friendly manner was always appreciated.

since 1974 when I first met Phil, he has been a steadfast and loyal friend through the ups and downs of life. From serving as the best man at my wedding to helping me purchase my first home , Phil was always there at important moments giving counsel and encouragement. I will miss him a lot but look forward to reuniting with him " on the other side"
