Richard Virgo Obituary

VIRGO, RICHARD STEVEN

RICHARD STEVEN VIRGO, formerly of Chevy Chase, passed away August 19, 2003 at Manor Care in Wilmington, DE. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Stuart Virgo, their two daughters, Gracia Ratliff and Julie Vanbeek, and three grandchildren, Rosemary, Virgil, and Stirling. Following service in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Virgo graduated from the University of Michigan and practiced architecture in Michigan until 1962 when he moved his family to work with the Forest Service in planning Visitor Centers. Later he went to the Smithsonian Institution as Chief of Design at the National Museum of American History for 18 years. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 11:30 a.m., at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 12621 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Kidney Foundation, 800-622-9010.
