Robert Allnutt Obituary

Beloved husband of Jan for 60 years. Devoted father of David (Nellie) and Tom (Tanya). Cherished grandfather of Sam, Jack, Isaac, and James. Predeceased by parents Robert Carhart and Evelyn Brooks Allnutt and brother Bruce, Bob died August 11, 2025, at age 90.
Bob served with distinction in multiple federal agencies over 26 years, including as NASA's youngest Assistant Administrator during the Apollo era and Associate Deputy Administrator during the Space Shuttle's first flights. He later served as Executive Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.
A graduate of Virginia Tech (engineering, with honors) and George Washington University Law School (J.D. with distinction, LL.M.), Bob was a member of the Order of the Coif and law review editor.
Longtime Bethesda resident and former president of the Edgemoor Tennis and Swim Club. Member of the Cosmos Club and numerous professional and charitable boards.
The family will hold a memorial service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bethesda at a future date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery County Hospice.

Dear Jan,
I feel your grief and I share so many great memories being with you and Bob over so many years.
