Rosell Pickrel Obituary

PICKREL, ROSELL TAYLOR "Pick" (Age 96)

Of Largo, Florida, formerly of Washington, DC, died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at home at Pinecrest Place in Largo. Mr. Pickrel was born in Reedsville, NC and received his education in Alta Vista, VA. He founded the Star Vending Corporation in 1937 in Washington DC. Mr. Pickrel was an active member of the Elks Club and was past Exalted Ruler of the Washington DC Lodge #15; past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler; past state president of the Maryland, DC and Delaware associations; member of the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee and Co-Founding Father of the Elks Youth Camp Barrett. Mr. Pickrel was also a member of the Stanbury Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners, all of Washington, DC. Mr. Pickrel is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen Pickrel; daughters, Judie Turner and Brenda Kelly of Maryland; a stepdaughter, Judy Calderon of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Sr. Services previously held. Family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Elk's Camp Barrett, PO Box 258, Crownsville, MD 21032 or to Hospice, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo Florida 33770.
