RUPERT B. BAKER Funeral Director Chinn-Baker Funeral Service
RUPERT B. BAKER departed this life suddenly on Friday July 19, 2013 at INOVA Lansdowne Hospital. He was the father of Naomi (Maurice) Terrell, Kevin (Deborah) Baker, Russell Baker, Zack (Tanya) Baker, Shelly (Corey) Scott and Shawn Baker, Jaelyn C. Baker, Jacole C. Baker and the late Jacelyn B. Baker; brother of Robert B. Baker Jr., Constance B. (Oscar), Howard, Edward C. (Carolyn) Durham, Patricia A. (Leonard) Lee, and Marion Y. Jones and adopted brother, Rev. Dr. Leonard Smith; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Mr. Baker will lie in state at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3500 S. 19th St., Arlington, VA 22204. Viewing on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5 p.m. until time of evening service at 8 p.m. and again on Thursday July 25, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Rev. I was so saddened to hear of his Mr. Baker's death. When I went to the Shell station, this week asking had anyone seen him. I knew something was wrong. The whole place got quiet. I was so devastated. From the Patent Office friends that he knew, we are sending our condolences to the family. Be strong. Weeping endures for one night but joy comes in the morning

It was truly an art watching Mr. Rupert Baker work a funeral procession; how he took command and halted anyone from breaking the chain. Mr Baker and his brother Robert, has taken such great care of many in my family in our times of bereavement; most recent my Daddy Nub Ruffner, who told me early on, that Mr. Baker had a good sense of humor. Mr. Baker I can just see you and Daddy joking around up there… You will be greatly missed too.

To the Baker family my heart and sympathy goes out to the family. So many time Ruppert provided comfort for me and my family in our time of bereavement. It was alway comforting to talk with him when you were down. He made us smile and laugh in the middle of many family funerals. He also made me hold onto my seat in that Silver Cadillac a few times going to the cementary. And it was always a joy to play cards with him and talk a little trash. I miss you so much and still don't want to believe you are gone. I always enjoyed hearing stories about the great times you, my dad Edward and Uncle Robert had together and admired the relationship you all had with one another.
