Mr. Odland was an encouraging instructor with a great sense of humor. He inspired us with many interesting assignments and even invited the class to his townhome in Alexandria before we graduated (where I was able to play his baby grand piano for the class). Rest in Peace Sir!

It saddens me to learn of Mr. Odland's passing. He was one of my most important professors at the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition to being an enthusiastic, he was a very dear friend. Ellis-Odland Interior was one of the well-appointed homes on King Street, Alexandria, VA that I had ever visited at that time. He took us students on many field trips and was truly dedicated to his work. After my graduation we remained friends for many decades. His abundant spirit will live on in my soul and I am sure that we will see each other again somewhere in the universe. My condolences to his family, friends, and other classmates.

I am deeply sorry to hear of this loss. Mr. Odland was a true mentor for me in my interior design career. He was my professor at the university of Maryland. I visited with him at his home on a few occasions in Alexandria. My most sincere condolences go to all. We lost touch several years ago. I´m truly sorry that he is no longer here. He was inspirational!

I knew Shelly for 50 years and have just learned of his passing. I would appreciate an email from anyone who was close to him so that I can discuss the disposition of a painting of his which I have.
