STARLING E. HATCHETT
Starling E. Hatchett, 92, passed on November 18, 2012. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He touched many lives through his gifts of song, art, and friendship. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine; son Jeffrey (Vickie), and grandchildren, Antoinette, Yolanda, and Cameron. Services will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1514 15th St. NW on Wednesday, November 28, Viewing at 11 a.m., Service at 12 noonwww.mcguire-services.com

My sincere condolences to the Hatchett family for their loss. I'm sorry that I did not have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Starling Hatchett in person. However, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the great legacy he's left behind through the artistic talent of his granddaughter, Antoinette. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.

So many stories shared by your granddaughter Toni were so touching and funny, I know the family has memories to cherish and hold in their hearts forever, Rest in Peace. Jeff, Tony, Mrs. Hatchett and the Entire Hatchett Family: So many good times with Mr. Hatchett--too many to name here; from Martin's Crosswinds' Annual Crab Events to the annual Retired DCFD Reunions.
Mr. Hatchett delighted us in song and the most handsome model in a fashion show one year. He was always the same, just a pleasure to be around. He will truly be missed. You will all remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Hatchett, we will always remember you for your friendly smile, warm greetings, your tremendous voice, and the way you always cared about family. I will also miss our side chats on tennis and the sports world. We should never ever take family reunions for granted and I am so very happy that I had the opportunity to spend time with you this past September. You will surely be missed. To Great Aunt Elaine and the rest of my Hatchett Family - I loved Great Uncle Starling as if he were my own grandfather, whom as you know, died when I was very young. Uncle Starling showed up in Columbus shortly after and told my sister and I he'd be here whenever we needed. I remember he came to see me graduate at OSU in '98. That was one of the best day of my life!
I'm truly happy that I got to see Great Uncle Starling with the rest of you during the Hatchett Man reunion back in 2010. And although I cannot make the funeral on Wednesday, the Ohio extension of the Hatchett Family will be there in spirit and prayer. Please always remember the best times with Starling... He will be missed and always loved.

What a monumental voice and person. It was a pleasure to work with Starling. He gave so many very fine performances but his "Seven Last Words" at St. Lukes was always superb. It was wonderful to learn of his great moments with the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Our thoughts and prayers to Elaine and the family.

To Elaine and family. Starling will be missed. He was such a bright light with the seniors at Deanwood Center. He was planning to do a skit with the Frisky Steppers for Christmas 2012. He was a joy to be around. My prayers are with the family.
