STEPHEN H. DOLLINS "Steve"

Stephen H. Dollins "Steve" passed away on November 4, 2022 at the Miami Veterans Medical Center. Born in Alexandria, VA to Hubert and Jane Dollins on December 14, 1946, Steve attended St. Mary's Elementary School in Alexandria and later received a B.A. at Mt. St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, MD. Steve wore many hats in service to others in his 75 years. He was most proud of his time in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served a combat tour in Viet Nam. His love of country was surpassed only by his love of family, with a special place in his heart for babies. After his discharge from the Corps, he received training as an EMT, and later as an Inhalation Therapist and Administrator and worked at several Northern Virginia hospitals, focusing on newborns in respiratory distress. He also served as a police officer in Charles County, MD., earning awards from both the Maryland State Senate and House of Representatives for Heroic Action and Distinguished Service. Steve served two tours with the Peace Corps in Antigua, where locals referred to him as "Dr. Steve."

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother David. He is survived by his brother Mark (Angie), Susan (Mike) Lesar, Sallie Dollins, Kathleen (Roy) Stefanik and Victoria (Bob) Johnson Cahill and many adoring nieces and nephews. Despite spinal cord and other related health issues, Steve always kept a positive attitude. His strong faith and generous nature were an inspiration to all.
