WILLIAM SEARS Obituary

SEARS WILLIAM P. SEARS "Will" Founder of the transportation consulting company, The Peterson Group, passed away due to heart failure, on Friday, November 28, 2014. He was 48. He is survived by his wife Kerri Donald Sears, and immediate family members, his brother Kevin, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and his parents Peter and Cary Webb Sears of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Will grew up in Wayne, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Radnor High School. Subsequently he received an AB in History from Colgate University and a JD from Washington and Lee University. His early career was as a congressional staff assistant, first in the offices of Robert Walker, from Lancaster, and later the initial offices of Rick Santorum from Pittsburgh. He then attended law school, and upon receipt of his degree, rejoined Senator Santorum's staff, where he excelled at trans- portation law, election reform, and Senate procedure. In 2001, Will was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Chief Counsel to the Federal Transit Administration where he became expert in matters dealing with public transportation. In 2005 he started a consulting practice under the title, The Peterson Group where he expertly and creatively guided public and private sector clients on statutory and regulatory matters related to transportation. For the past twenty years Will has been a resident of the Capitol Hill region. He truly loved the neighborhood, the people and the lifestyle they represented. He was a regular in the parks, usually accompanied by his dog, Kegle, except for those times when the serious business of Bocce competition intervened-then the dog stayed home. Will enjoyed all manner of competitive games, and took great pride in winning, whether it be beating his parents at Scrabble, out-Baconating his friends in movie trivia, or edging the unsuspecting opponents in Liar's Poker. He will always be known as a sociable person, generous and supportive to his many friends and associates over the years. Will was a creative thinker, loved to read, and his I-Phone never stopped dinging. On Friday, December 5, 2014, there will be a Service at Christ Church Washington Parish, 620 G St. SE, Washington, DC at 11:30 a.m. Contributions may be made to The Washington Animal Rescue League at www.warl.org via the Donate Today button. Oh Will, we had many good conversations at the good old Capital Lounge while enjoying a few cold brews. I will always remember our bets on the Cash Cab, go or no go for everything. I'll tip one to you tonite my old friend.

My condolences for your loss. Life is so short and those we love are gone from our lives too quickly. God's promise to empty the grave in the near future is found at Hosea 13:14. May the God of loyal love comfort you during your time of sorrow.
