PAT BOX Obituary

PAT BOX 4/30/1930 - 6/21/2025 Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Pat Box, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 21, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1930, in Centrahoma, Oklahoma, to Charles Edward Holland and Flora Eva McCabe Holland. Pat often reminisced about her childhood on the farm, especially the early mornings spent helping milk the cows. Memories she held near and dear to her heart. While attending Abilene Christian College in Abilene, Texas, she met the love of her life, Dean Box. The two were married on June 24, 1950, in Waxahachie, Texas, and together they raised three sons: Terry, David, and Scott. A faithful and lifelong member of College Street Church of Christ, later Brown Street Church of Christ, Pat was always eager to serve. Whether singing at funerals, baking delicious treats, or caring for homebound members, she gave her time and whole heart without hesitation. For over four decades, Pat was a dedicated member of the Baylor Women's Auxiliary. She used her gifts to bring comfort and care to others by sewing pressure pillows for surgical patients, making caps and booties for newborns, and organizing medical charts for day surgery units. Her servant's heart was evident in all she did. Above all, Pat loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted grandmother to seven, great-grandmother to eleven, and great-great-grandmother to three. She delighted in teaching them how to cook, sew, knit, play dress-up, and most importantly, how to find joy in everyday life. Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean (2005); her brother, C.E. Holland (1994); her father, Charles Holland (2002); her mother, Flora Holland (1970); and her daughter-in-law, Debbie Box (2021). She is survived by her sons: Terry Box and wife Lee Ann of Salt Lake City, Utah; David Box of Waxahachie, Texas; and Scott Box of Panama City Beach, Florida. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Wendy Poynor, Amy Scruggs, Stephanie Alexander, Nickie Weyrauch, Meredith Box, Jennifer Knapp, and Payton Jean Box; as well as her great-and great-great-grandchildren, each a living testament to the love and life she shared. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, 9am, at Hillcrest Burial Park, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Pat was such an amazing lady and will be missed by so many. She welcomed my mom to Buffalo Creek and they shared their love of dogs. She always asked about my mom when we moved her to memory care and greeted me with a smile. Grief can be so hard but I hope the memories of Pat bring you all peace.
