Jeanne Kay Lucas
April 28, 1954 - September 10, 2024
WATERLOO - Jeanne Kay Lucas, 70, of Waterloo, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 10th after a battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on April 28, 1954, the daughter of Dale W. Clark and Margery A. Clark. Jeanne was a proud graduate of East High School.
Jeanne found great purpose in feeling valuable in her work. Over the years some of her favorite jobs included working at Central High School, Old Creamery Theater, various law offices, Advanced Heat Treat, being a caregiver of her parents in their last years and, most recently, at the non-profit Jesse Cosby Center Community Empowerment Agency.
Her greatest loves were her children: Peggy Sue Lucas and Stacey Anna Lucas, both of Gilbertville, and Brian Patrick (Jen) Lucas II, of Elk Run Heights; her grandchildren: Ian Lucas, Adrian Lucas and Meredith "Edie" Lucas. She also adored being a "Gramama" to all the fur-babies in her life over the years.
Jeanne, sitting at her grandmother's piano, playing her favorite hymn "He" and the beloved "Rainbow Connection" is a core memory for her children and the soundtrack of their childhood. She loved old movies, theater, watching for cardinals and hummingbirds, eating Brach's chocolate stars, G'ma's pumpkin pie and chocolate malts, and the occasional perfectly medium-rare prime rib.
Her children and grandchildren loved her to the moon and back. They will miss making her laugh so hard she cried. That was the best.
There is comfort in knowing Jeanne has been met in heaven by some of her most cherished friends and family: her best friend, Sue Timmer; brother, Dave Clark; her parents; grandparents; and so many other dear souls in her life who now have their angel wings.
