Roberta Smith

1944 - 2026

Roberta "Bobbie" Helen Smith, 81 formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Bobbie was born July 22, 1944 in Duluth, Minn., daughter of Hulda Helen (Kari) and Robert Arthur La Pierre. She married Russell Clyde Smith on March 20, 1965 in Duluth.

Bobbie graduated from Finlayson High School in Minnesota in 1962. She was employed by BBDO Advertising Agency in Minneapolis before moving to Iowa. In Charles City she worked for the city following the 1968 tornado and as manager of the State of Iowa Liquor Store. However, the job she liked most was stay-at-home mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren.

Bobbie is survived by her two sons, Bradley of Wadena and Ryan (Susan) of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Ethan of Cedar Falls, Elly of Eugene, Ore., Clayton and Mason of Muscatine; two sisters, Bonita Athey of Cambridge, Minn. and Patricia of Elizabethton, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, maternal grandparents, John and Ethel Kari; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Helen La Pierre; and brother, Richard (Jean) La Pierre of Hinckley, Minn.
