Richard Baker Obituary
Richard Paul Baker of Deatsville, Alabama and formerly of Selma, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the age of 60. He was born May 3, 1965 to the late Joseph and Katherine Baker. Ricky lived a life characterized by tireless generosity and an unwavering commitment to helping others. He guided his path with a simple yet profound philosophy: if someone needed assistance, he would be there, ready and willing to lend a hand. A proud 1983 graduate of Selma High School, Ricky went on to dedicate over 40 years of his life to Bahakel Communications. As a traffic coordinator, he orchestrated the intricate logistics of the television stations in the Montgomery area, seamlessly fitting commercials and programs together like pieces of a grand puzzle. His work was a testament to his problem-solving prowess and his capability as a jack of all trades. Whether tackling technical issues or getting his hands dirty in construction, Ricky had an innate ability to find solutions and get things done. In addition to his professional achievements, Ricky was passionate about a wide variety of hobbies. His love for tinkering was evident in the countless hours he spent in his shop, welding away or working on vehicles, his cherished RV, and various mechanical projects. He found peace and solace in the outdoors, relishing adventures while deer hunting or casting lines for catfish in the river. These moments by the water brought him joy, where he could unwind from the demands of daily life and reconnect with nature. Ricky's proudest accomplishments were not measured solely by his career success but shone brightly through the countless projects he undertook to support his friends and family. His skillful hands built decks, erected privacy fences, and provided assistance wherever it was needed. He was determined to see his loved ones happy and comfortable, often going above and beyond to ensure their needs were met. In every interaction-whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a heartfelt laugh-Ricky left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His spirit of generosity and his ability to bring people together will not soon be forgotten. He truly embodied the essence of a good neighbor and friend and was loved by all who had the privilege to know him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joey Baker.
